What are property inspections and
appraisals?

It is important to personally inspect the home as you are viewing it and take notes, so that you can remember what you like and dislike about the home. You can also determine items that need repair.

A professional home inspection typically includes an examination of heating and central air conditioning systems, interior plumbing, electrical systems, the roof, attic, visible insulation, walls, ceilings, floors, windows, foundations, and basements. Inspections may also include appliances and outdoor plumbing. Additionally, a pest inspection and roof inspection are other separate reports often ordered.

An appraisal determines the market value of your property. Customarily the appraisal will be arranged for by your lender and will determine the amount of money they are willing to lend on the property.

Your real estate agent will assist you with getting the proper inspections done and help you evaluate them.
